Getting Fit With Body Benefits

Whitley Bay Islamic Centre have the amazing opportunity to work with Active North Tyneside and their Body Benefits programme to help promote healthy eating and well-being through a 12 week programme aimed at men and women.

The body benefits programme ran for over 12 weeks for both men and women. Each week consisted of discussions and activities about healthy eating, diets, and wellbeing followed by a fun group workout session which alternated between HIIT and Boxercise.

We are currently having an attendance of around 20 people with 10 in the men sessions and 10 in the woman session. Majority of the people attending these classes have no prior knowledge of healthy eating, fats, carbohydrates, or anything regarding maintaining a healthy balanced diet. Furthermore exercise was also something that was not practised amongst the group, with very few understanding the benefits of regular exercise with physical and mental wellbeing.

We hope this collaboration with Active North Tyneside can help boost and promote health and wellbeing within the BAME community. Let’s find out what happens after our 12 week programme!
